Human rights activist Agather Atuhaire has revealed that the General Court Martial has, once again, delayed the trial involving Olivia Lutaaya and 31 other accused individuals.

Atuhaire shared insights from a recent conversation she had with Olivia, who expressed a feeling of resignation towards the ongoing legal proceedings. Reflecting on her interactions, Atuhaire recounted an encounter with three mothers of the detainees, who expressed their inability to attend the court hearing due to challenges with transportation.

These mothers, as noted by Atuhaire, have previously voiced their struggles in affording transportation to Makindye for court appearances, often having to sacrifice meals to cover travel costs. Atuhaire emphasized a perceived lack of concern for the hardships faced by these individuals within the legal process.

Expressing further concern, Atuhaire raised the possibility of coerced confessions from the detainees, referencing their previous accounts of being pressured to admit to crimes they did not commit.

Atuhaire’s remarks underscore a growing apprehension regarding the fairness and integrity of the legal proceedings in this particular case.
