Conor McGregor reportedly wants to fight the winner of Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz, and he’s eyeing a January UFC return

CECAFA task Police to search for missing Eritrean players

Arsenal players Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were targeted, the club confirmed, but both escaped uninjured.

Tears of Joy and sadness as Algeria win Africa cup of nations

Algeria won the Africa Cup of Nations for the second time as a freak early goal secured a 1-0 win against Senegal in the final in Cairo.
Baghdad Bounedjah’s shot took a huge deflection off Salif Sane and looped over goalkeeper Alfred Gomes.

Senegal, who have never won the competition, were awarded a penalty for handball in the second half but it was overturned after a VAR review.
Algeria closed out the rest of the game to win their first title since 1990.
Senegal’s players collapsed on the pitch in tears at the final whistle.
Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, who said before the game he would swap his Champions League winners medal for Africa Cup of Nations success, looked disconsolate as Algeria players celebrated around him.

FUFA’s Magogo elected CAF executive member

The President of the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), Moses Hassim Magogo has been elected on the executive of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Magogo was elected to represent the Central East Zone during the CAF Ordinary General Assembly held at the Marriott Hotel in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday. Magogo, the FUFA President collected 33 votes, while the incumbent and former CECAFA President Leodegar Tenga had 19 votes.

Buganda detects ploy to ban Masaza cup competitions – Mayiga

The Buganda Kingdom Lukiiko says it has detected a ploy by a cross-section of people with intentions to tarnish the Masaza Cup competitions and cause its prohibition by Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).

Buganda Kingdom Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga told the Lukiiko sitting at Bulange-Mengo today that the recurrent chaos, abuse of alcohol, fights and other vices in the competition are an orchestrated move to destroy the image of the tournament.

Coach Mubiru picked to guide Cranes to CHAN 2020

Police FC’s Abdallah Mubiru has been named coach of the Uganda Cranes preparing for the African Championship of Nations (CHAN) 2020 qualifiers.

This is the second big assignment ex-international Mubiru has been given this year, after guiding Cranes to the COSAFA tournament in May. It was a baptism of fire for the coach, as his Cranes teams were edged by Lesotho in the quarterfinals, before losing to South Africa in the plate tournament.

I welcomed the National Soccer Team- The Cranes, from Egypt where they represented us so well. Making it to the last 16 out of the 53 countries is a commendable job.

When Uganda began recovering, we started sports Again. Government has not committed to supporting the national team seriously, but we have been doing it in a small way because we are dealing with other pressing issues like; security, education, health, roads, piped water, electricity, ICT.

Ex- Cranes boss Desabre is new Pyramids coach in Egypt

Sebastien Desabre was named coach of ambitious Egyptian club Pyramids FC on Monday, in the wake of Uganda’s elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Frenchman’s appointment comes three days after Uganda lost 1-0 to Senegal in the last 16 having advanced beyond the group stage for the first time since 1978.

Uganda Cranes back, set to meet Museveni today
