A suspected Ebola patient has died from Nyamirami Health Centre III in Muhokya Sub County, Kasese District.
The suspect was admitted to the facility last week with signs including passing out of blood from body openings including ears and anus and fever. The suspect whose identity has been concealed in order not to jeopardize tracing his contacts had traveled from Kagadi district last week.
Dr. Yusuf Baseke, the Kasese District Health Officer says that a trained burial team has been dispatched to the area to conduct the burial and also take necessary details of all people the deceased could have had contact with.
He said the deceased blood samples had been picked and taken to the Uganda Virus Research Institute –UVRI for analysis.
Baseka also said that the previous samples picked from two suspects turned out negative and one of the patients is still being treated for other ailments at Rukoki Health Center IV. He adds that they have intensified community sensitizations in wake of the threats.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Health announced the death of a health worker Margaret Nabisubi who succumbed to Ebola. She was part of the six health workers that were transferred from Mubende Hospital.
On Saturday On Saturday, Dr. Mohammed Ali, a 37-year-old Tanzanian national also succumbed to Ebola. He was pursuing a Master of Medicine degree at Kampala International University.
