NRM Takes Action Against Kween Party Official for 50 Million Shillings Theft

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) reinforced its anti-corruption stance through the presence of Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, the Party Director of Administration and Finance, at the Kapchorwa Magistrate Court. Ojale attended a court session regarding the state’s case against Musau Victor, the District Administrator of Kween District, highlighting the party’s resolve to address corruption within its ranks.

Testifying before the court, Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale asserted her responsibility to oversee all district administrators, including Musau Victor. She detailed that on March 11th, a sum of 58,370,000 UGX was transferred from the directorate to the NRM District Executive Committee (DEC) Kween District’s Centenary Bank account, with an additional one million shillings sent to Masua’s MTN number for Local Council operations in remote areas. Bank records confirmed that the funds were withdrawn on the same day by the district administrator.

Following a tip-off from the district treasurer and the NRM district chairperson on March 20th, Ojale promptly intervened, leading to Victor’s voluntary surrender to the police and subsequent arrest. Despite Victor’s claim of being robbed at gunpoint, an investigation revealed no supporting evidence or witnesses.

Detective Isaale Robert, the investigating officer, ordered a mental examination for the accused, deeming it unusual for a purported robbery victim not to report the incident to authorities. The investigation unearthed unfilled payment vouchers, a chequebook, and withdrawal slips, underscoring the NRM’s commitment to thorough scrutiny and maintaining ethical standards.

Furthermore, it emerged that Masua had a previous police encounter related to embezzlement in 2021, which was resolved at the district level without the party’s knowledge. This revelation underscores the NRM’s vigilance in addressing past misconduct and enforcing accountability.

During the registration exercise launch, NRM Chairperson HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni issued a stern warning against embezzlement, emphasizing repercussions for those misappropriating party resources.
